Here's where I wish I was hanging out over the Memorial Day weekend. I'm in desperate need of a vacation right now, so this cottage near the beach in East Hampton, New York, really appeals to me.

Linda at Lime in the Coconut got me hooked on designer Tom Scheerer's work, and I spent a lot of time oohing and ahhing over his portfolio yesterday (when I should've been working).
I like how relaxed and unpretentious this home appears. Like it's ready for me to move right in. First thing I'd do? Take a nap in this bed:

You can see the rest of the photos of this cottage on Tom Scheerer's website.P.S. I hope all of my readers in the States are having a nice three-day weekend. As I was whining--er, explaining--on my Facebook page yesterday, I'm working all weekend to meet a project deadline. But I did manage to take some time off Sunday to go to a baseball game with my family, which was fun, and Monday we'll have lunch at my parents' place. What are you doing with your holiday?
My weekend starting with wishing for a bloggers beach trip! It has rained the entire weekend (funny but for the last 2 years we have had a drought). My granddaughters were here for the weekend so we have done some playing in the rain. It has been many years since I last played in the rain but I must admit - it was fun!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this lovely house! What fun to stay here for the summer with all the family.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your inspirations and finds!I enjoy my mini-vacations at your blog.
Happy day--hope your project wraps up!

We had rain too...so I painted some rocks behind our fireplace.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun perusing Tom's work, Julia!!!
Hope you meet your deadline!
I went to a Memorial Day Service at Grant Park in Chicago. My DAR chapter was invited to lay a wreath @ Gen Logan's monument. It was really special. Other than that the weekend was spend at the pool! Yay!! F-i-n-a-l-l-y!!
ReplyDeleteExposed beams = love at first sight.

ReplyDeleteKara, I can't tell if it's wallpaper or tile. I was trying to figure that out, too! Love that bathroom. -Julia

ReplyDeleteSigh, Hamptons would be beautiful this time of year
OOhh--I NEED to be here. I like that everything is not so beachy ( a little dark furniture, etc.) I had drop-in overnight company from Chicago (at least 600 miles away-:)for the weekend...and rain and a broken dishwasher! I NEED to be there!
ReplyDeleteI've had hell to pay for that extra day off...I'm super, duper slammed at work! Grrr. ANYHOO...my weekend was spent yard saling and thrifting. I know this is shocking. :-)
ReplyDeleteLast year I picked up 8 framed vintage bird prints, quite a bit like the duck ones in the staircase photo. They were $15 for the set (!!) so I had to take them figuring I'd re-sell or gift -- but I love how all those prints look together going up the stairs. Hmmmm....
Oh, I love those exposed beams! What a beautiful house. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the blog! I'll be following this as I make my list of summer projects. Just strated blogging yesterday and enjoyed the weekend watching my children's games and bikeriding together.
