I love a red and white kitchen. They always seem so happy. I have a white kitchen, and I bring out the red accents in the winter to warm things up (it's aqua and yellow now for summer). But I never really thought I'd like to see so much red in a beach house kitchen. Until now.

PK, a decorator who blogs at Room Remix, wrote a post last week about decorating with red and showed these two photos from Coastal Living. I love the red frame on the blackboard, the striped canisters, the "Beach" arrow sign--and the view.
P.S. I don't have a picture of my kitchen decorated for summer, but I did post my family room with the aquas and yellows if you want to see it: How I Furnished My Family Room on a Tight Budget.
I adore RED and have recently decided it should be a staple in my kitchen. Thanks for this post. I am inspired!!
ReplyDeleteI love every bit of it, especially the view!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I usually am not a fan of red but I LOVE this kitchen! Love it! Great post!!
ReplyDeleteYes the red and the blue of the ocean are a perfect foil!
ReplyDeleteRed in splashes does spell FUN!

Red is one of those colors I prefer very muted & faded, soft & worn. Bright red looks great in photos, but living with it? I'm better off just enjoying the photos of other people's red :-)
ReplyDelete(I do use teeny touches, but not prominently)
ReplyDeleteOh well, I love red so much that I bought a slip covered red sofa and I think it looks great. Red makes me very happy..and these photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I absolutely adore red and white kitchens. Oddly enough, just a minute or so before I clicked over here, I posted my tablescape for the week and it's titled Red And White Tablescape! And I bought chalkboard paint and red spray paint so I could do the same thing! Just haven't found my "canvas" yet! Love this! Keep them coming!

Julia,
ReplyDeleteYou always find the best pictures for your blogs!
The red and white featured in this kitchen is so fun, cheerful and retro...but living with it would be so hard for me to do! I like my reds more muted and mixed with lots of blues and a bit of soft buttery yellow...perfect summer accent!
I look forward to your next seaside post!

ReplyDeleteooo, I love this kitchen. The red on the wall is the perfect red. Love the large red framed chalkboard and X-legged table too.
ReplyDeletei love the combination of red and faded blue together. i think that's what grounds this fab look in beachy style. it's great how you can see the blue walls from the red room. very nautical and pretty.

I painted my teeny tiny bachelorette kitchen wall (there was only one, really) red and I LOVED it! Of course, I didn't have the million dollar views (I overlooked a parking lot, lol!) which mke it look that much nicer.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! I never thought that a combination of red and white colors for kitchen will have this beautiful result. The kitchen looks so happy and relaxing. Thank you for the idea.
